Having arrived early at the Monarch for tonight's gig I was privileged to catch support act 'The Spice Boys'. This foursome manage to be both revolting and charming at the same time. Front boy 'Willie Small's' thong routine left me and many others reaching for our sick bags while sticks supremo 'Stix Sticky Stickerson' won everyone over with his heartfelt plea to think about the poor people of Africa "where it's just too hot to do anything".

Suitably warmed up we awaited the arrival of the band we all wanted to see. Our expectation was shattered with the announcement that the Beatles would not, after all, be playing tonight but this was assuaged comfortably by the news that My Drug Hell would be taking their place.
With no introduction (a matter of superfluousness for the fans present) Tim and the band launched into a blistering '2am' and the word tight was suddenly too loose a word. This trio must surely have sprung from the same gene pool, every guitar lick, bass flick and hit stick rejoicing in a sea of synchronicity. This was musical troilism and we were the lucky voyeurs.
Ten songs later they were gone leaving this reviewer feeling like a deflowered school boy on a hot summer's afternoon, a melodic glow in my soul.
A trip to see MDH should be an essential part everyone's life - miss them at your peril.
